Kia Motors America recently proudly reported that the Kia Niro, Kia Soul, and Kia Cadenza won their respective segments in the J.D. Power 2017 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Awards. Kia was the only non-premium brand to earn three segment wins, finishing in a tie with two premium brands.
- The Kia Niro crossover hybrid won the Small SUV category, scoring 51 points above the segment average
- Kia Soul took its fifth APEAL award in the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle category
- Kia Cadenza bested strong competition in winning the Large Car segment
In a press release, Orth Hedrick, Vice President, Product Planning, Kia Motors America, noted, “Customers always want cars they’re proud to own and Kia earning three J.D. Power APEAL awards reflects the global focus we have placed on ensuring our customers come first. Buyers today have more choices than ever and are looking for vehicles that offer a superior combination of design, technology, safety, efficiency and premium amenities. The Kia Niro, Kia Soul and Kia Cadenza are prime examples of these important attributes as more people discover Kia’s world-class model line every day.”
The J.D. Power APEAL Study, now in its 22nd year, measures how gratifying a vehicle is to own and drive. Results are based upon owners assessments of 77 vehicle attributes across 10 categories and are weighted accordingly. Owners are surveyed at the same time as with the companies Initial Quality Survey, after 90 days of ownership. J.D. Power claims that vehicles with the most appeal enjoy higher owner loyalty, sell quicker and sell for higher prices.
