Put a Penny to Use and Check Tire Tread

October 20th, 2016 by

The penny, while many of us find them to be a bit of a burden in a monetary sense, they serve a really good purpose when it comes to performing a check for your vehicle that you can do at any time. The penny test is used to determine the tread on your tires, which over time wear down, and can lessen your grip on the road, and lead to unsafe driving. With that penny, you can test your tread levels to see if you need new tires or not.

  • Take a penny and put it in between the tread of your tires with Abraham Lincoln’s head going down toward the tread
  • If Lincoln’s head disappears, that means your tread is good, and you are fine
  • If you are able to see all of Lincoln’s head, that means you are in need or some new tires

Here at Pat Peck Kia, our service center in D'Iberville, MS would be happy to discuss your tire options, as well as install a new set should you need them, so schedule an appointment with us today.
