First, let’s take a look at the 2020 Kia Sportage powertrain configurations. With this powerful SUV, you’ll get two different engines to pick from:
- 2.4L I-4: 181 horsepower, 175 lb-ft of torque
- 2.0L turbo I-4: 237-240 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque
Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Overdrive and Sportmatic®. The overdrive function helps to keep you efficient during highway cruising while the Sportmatic® feature lets you take control and shift on-command in a limited manual mode when the mood strikes.
If you want to get the most power and agility, you’ll probably prefer the 2.0L turbo I-4 configuration. However, if fuel efficiency is your goal, then you might prefer the 2.4L I-4. This engine gets a maximum EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 23 MPG city and 30 MPG highway with front-wheel drive.1
With either configuration, you’ll have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and a choice between front-wheel drive (FWD) or Dynamax™ full active all-wheel drive (AWD).
2020 Sportage Trim Levels
The 2020 Kia Sportage gives you four configurations to work with when looking at trim levels:
- SX Turbo
The LX is the base-level trim. This configuration comes with a wide range of standard features and creates a solid foundation that the other configurations will build on.
For example, it comes with the 2.4L engine. It also has a standard 8-inch touch-screen display with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® compatibility. Plus, you get several smart safety features with this trim, including Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward Collision Warning-Avoidance Assist w/ Pedestrian Detection.
The other two trim levels build on from there until you get to the SX Turbo configuration. This one brings plenty of luxury, a dose of sportiness, and a hefty power output. It upgrades you to the 2.0L turbocharged engine and comes fully equipped with the full Kia DriveWise® suite of safety technologies.

Kia Sportage Interior Configurations
Finally, there’s the interior, which features several configurations based on your needs and style. For starters, you can choose a variety of interior colors in fabrics like cloth and Sofino leatherette.
The Sportage is a 2-row SUV, so you can keep the second-row seats upright to bring along a total of five passengers including the driver. This will give you 30.7 cubic feet of trunk space to work with. You can also fold down the second row completely to open up the full cargo volume of 60.1 cubic feet.
With a 60/40 split-folding feature, you can configure the second-row seat in a variety of ways to maximize your passenger and cargo space as needed.
