Choose Your Kia Optima Powertrain
The 2019 Optima offers three distinct powertrains that drivers can choose from, based on their performance needs:
If you’re looking for a powertrain that finds a balance between power and efficiency, you’ll like the standard powertrain. This includes a 2.4L I-4 engine that delivers 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 25 MPG city and 35 MPG highway.1
For the most efficient drive, go with the 1.5L turbo I-4 engine. This engine puts out 178 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. With the higher torque output and lower horsepower, it’s able to maximize on efficiency. This powertrain manages an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 MPG city and 37 MPG highway.1 It’s also paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission.
Drivers who want a sporty driving experience will probably like the 2.0L turbo I-4 engine that delivers 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed Sportmatic® transmission that optimizes performance. However, with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, you can take control at any time and shift on-demand.
Stay Safe in the 2019 Optima
The 2019 Kia Optima makes safety technology a standard feature by offering several smart safety systems with every trim level. These include:
- Blind Spot Collision Warning
- Lane Change Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Forward Collision Warning
All these high-tech systems work to help you stay more aware of your surroundings, so that you can reach your destination more safely.
Also included as a standard feature is the Driver Attention Warning system. It monitors your driving for behaviors that might indicate you’re too drowsy or distracted to drive. If so, you’ll receive a gentle alert indicating that it might be a good time to take a break from behind the wheel.
Get Comfortable in Your Optima
When it’s time to head out in your Kia Optima, you’ll have several ways to get comfortable. For example, ventilated seats are available to help you cool down when you enter your car on an especially hot day.
You can find the perfect seating position, too, with the ability to adjust the driver’s seat up to an available 12 ways. The available memory feature allows you to lock your settings in place, so that they’re easy to return to after letting someone else borrow your car.
With 39.8 inches of headroom and 45.5 inches of legroom, the Optima interior feels especially spacious, but the available panoramic sunroof really sets it over the top by filling the cabin with plenty of natural light.
